Caring People Needed for Mentally Stimulating Research

Who can participate?

  • Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and a family member or friend.

What does this involve?

  • The study is seeking people who are willing to participate in mentally stimulating group sessions, initially once a week, for six weeks. Participants will then be encouraged to continue the mentally stimulating activities at home for five weeks, before reuniting as a group for a final week.
  • Assessments of thinking abilities and well being will also be undertaken.
  • Total length of study involvement: 6 months.

How might this help you or your family member / friend?

  • Research has found a relationship between mentally stimulating leisure activities and reduced rates of cognitive decline.
  • Sessions delivered by members of the research team experienced in assessments and education sessions with people with Alzheimer’s disease.
